Cheese Steak Hamburger Helper (One-Pot Skillet Recipe)
Cheese Steak Hamburger Helper is a quick and hearty one-pan meal inspired by the flavors of a classic cheese steak sandwich. Ground beef, onions, and green peppers are cooked together with pasta in a creamy, savory sauce, then finished with melted mozzarella for a comforting and filling dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 teaspoon steak seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons steak sauce
- 1½ cups beef broth
- 1½ cups milk
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 2½ cups uncooked spiral pasta
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until fully browned.
- Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Drain excess grease if needed. Stir in steak seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in the beef broth, milk, tomato sauce, and steak sauce. Stir well.
- Add the uncooked pasta and mix until submerged in the liquid.
- Bring to a gentle simmer. Cover the skillet and cook on low heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
- Stir in 1 cup of mozzarella cheese until melted and creamy.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top, cover, and cook for 2–3 minutes until fully melted.
- Remove from heat and serve hot.
Tips
- Use freshly shredded cheese for a smoother melt
- Stir occasionally to prevent pasta from sticking
- Add a splash of milk if the sauce becomes too thick
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently with a little milk to loosen the sauce.
