Creamy Italian Sausage Tortellini (One-Pan Recipe)
Description
This creamy Italian sausage tortellini is a cozy, one-pan dinner designed for busy nights. Juicy sausage, tender cheese-filled tortellini, and a smooth tomato-cream sauce come together in a rich, comforting dish finished with melted mozzarella. Simple ingredients, big flavor, and minimal cleanup.
Ingredients
- 450 g (1 lb) Italian sausage, mild or spicy
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 cup Alfredo-style cream sauce
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 500 g (18–20 oz) frozen cheese tortellini
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Dried parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the Italian sausage and chopped onion. Cook, breaking up the meat, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the Alfredo sauce, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Add the frozen tortellini directly to the skillet. Stir until evenly coated in sauce. Cover and simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring once, until tender.
- Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the top. Either cover the skillet and let the cheese melt from the heat, or place under a hot oven broiler for 2–3 minutes until bubbly.
- Remove from heat, garnish with dried parsley, and serve immediately.
Tips
- Brown the sausage well for deeper flavor.
- If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of milk or water.
- Fresh tortellini can be used—reduce cooking time slightly.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
